Reflection

1.     Did your final product end up the way you had envisioned it?
It did not end up the way I imagined it would, but rarely anything ever does. I have an overactive imagination and so my goal is hardly a possibility. That doesn’t mean that I’m not proud of my work, because I am very proud of it. It just isn’t what I expected to find.

2.     Describe the process of taking this/these photographs; the locations; lighting arrangements, planning, etc.

The photography process for this particular project was very relaxed as I did not know what to expect from the city as it is always changing. I was lucky to be there on a day where there were exhibits all over the city.

3.     I used the technique ‘rule of thirds’ and I tried to change the composition so it was more pleasing to the eye. I tried to make the pictures more interesting in their arrangement.
4.     I think my photos are very successful, they show you Toronto in a teenager’s perspective. My second best photo, of the two young men came after they started flirting with Brianna and I for the 5th time. I wouldn’t have gotten it, if I hadn’t spoken to them. The album chronicles two teenage girls adventures throughout the city. And if that isn’t a successful album then I don’t know what is.

Have a great Summer Ms. Mendes! The girls and I will definitely miss you, thanks for the best class ever!!!

Digital Portfolio

This is my Digital Portfolio

http://www.slideshare.net/xoxsaraox/portfolio-35745335

  1. The style of genre that most appeals to me are portrait photography
  2.  Anything that looks like it would be taken with a Polaroid is interesting to me. I would like to portray emotions and relationships through my photography.
  3.  I believe my strengths are seeing potential photos in everyday life, I find that I see a beauty in even the most mundane of moments. You can see this in all my work, as it is all very low key.
  4. My Formalism shot of the old man siting eating his lunch is probably the photograph that best exemplifies my strengths. I saw him eating in front of the water and I saw the picture in my head and I wanted to remember this moment for whatever reason. I am very proud with the way the picture turned out.
  5.  I need to improve my lighting and my use of the camera’s settings. I am not very good with using the actual camera to its fullest potential. But what I do know I believe I do well.
  6.  In my first shot, the Hands and Eyes I wish I could’ve blurred the back ground a little more to intensify the love in the photo. To make it feel like they were they only two people in the world. I don’t yet have the skill to get exactly what I want out of my photographs but I intend to one day.
  7. The picture of Olivia from my first Portrait shoot is a photograph that I really enjoy because it makes me uncomfortable to look at. The feeling I hope people get from viewing this image is discomfort. And there really isn’t a message behind this particular photo, but if I were to look at it as an impartial individual I would see it as letting loose. She’s arching back uncomfortable and her mouth is open, it looks as if she is releasing something. It could be her negative thoughts or emotions or even just the stress of everyday life. I believe that the photograph was successful in every aspect and I would like to leave my photography to be left to the ‘eye of the beholder’ .

Formalism

Portraits

Self-Portrait: Journal Entry

After I decided the theme I wanted for my Portrait assignment, I asked Brianna if she could help me with my Self Portrait. I wanted the pictures to feel like a family album of old polaroids, I wanted them to be relaxed and goofy so that the viewer feels comfortable and happy looking at the pictures. Whenever I look at pictures where the subjects are happy it makes me feel like I'm walking on a cloud and sharing in their happiness, and thats what I'm looking to create with my pictures. It wasn't very difficult setting up the camera for the shots. I began by taking a picture of Brianna in the way that I desired my portraits taken, and she referred back to that shot throughout the shoot. I had to change the aperture several times as the sun was setting and we changed locations once. Overall working with Brianna for my Self Portrait was easy and enjoyable and I believe that the pictures came out looking exactly the way I wanted them to.

March: Colour

This is my March Photography Assignment, we had to choose a colour and have the colour be 90% of the image. I chose yellow and these are the pictures that I took around my house.

February: Hands + Eyes

I went to Cancun for a week and met some friends and they decided to help me with my photography project, the theme is emotions and how we use our hands and eyes to portray them.

 I hope you enjoy it!
